When a loved one dies, our bereavement staff is there to help family and friends cope with their grief so they can begin to heal. Hospice by the Sea understands the importance of dealing with the losses in life. Grief and bereavement can have a profound effect on our health and wellbeing.
The role of the Hospice by the Sea Bereavement team is to guide you into the journey of healing. The Bereavement team is led by Spiritual Counselors and Medical Social Workers. The bereavement plan of care is started prior to the loss. The goal of the Bereavement team is to listen, advise and help with skills needed to deal with loss.
Bereavement services include telephone calls from the team and monthly bereavement mailings which contains pertinent information and guidelines appropriate for the time period after the loss. There are also bereavement support groups which include: ongoing support groups, 10-week support groups, coping with holidays workshops, and memorial services.
Our team also provides one-on-one counseling in the home or at the offices of Hospice by the Sea as needed. Phone consultations, resources and referrals are provided.
Our bereavement services are also open to the community.
